2007 EntryThis year Coventry City Council and CV One (the
city’s Destination Management and
Promotion Company) have joined in partnership to enter the Large City
category of the Heart of England in Bloom competition.
The 2007 theme is ‘United in Bloom’, to highlight Coventry’s links
around the world. Town twinning began after the Second World War as a
way of promoting reconciliation and friendship and Coventry is currently
twinned with 26 cities around the world in 18 different countries. Each
country will be represented in a variety of floral displays across the
city.

"It is with great pride for Coventry that I support the city's
bid for the top accolade in Britain in Bloom 2007. The colourful
and outstanding floral displays and the landscaping throughout
the city are a tribute not only to the staff who plant and
maintain them, but also to the residents who make their homes
and gardens look so attractive. The joint effort by the Council
and CV One in making the city a vibrant, pleasant and colourful
place to live and visit has been achieved by hard work and
commitment all round. It makes Coventry a cleaner, greener and
safer city and encourages businesses, communities and residents
to move forward in creating and developing pride in this great
city of ours.
Good Luck Coventry for a well-deserved gold medal!"

“I
am delighted that this year, in partnership with the City Council, CV
One has for the first time been able to contribute to Coventry’s entry
in the Large City category of Heart of England in Bloom.
We are confident that together we can build upon our respective
successes in previous years as we strive to create a clean, green and
attractive environment that is a source of pleasure and pride to the
local residents and businesses who share our goals.
And to the staff who have worked so hard to create such colourful and
inspiring displays I wish you all the success that you so richly deserve
in these awards.”

“We
are committed to make Coventry an attractive and colourful place for our
residents and visitors. City Services have increased the number of
flower tubs, barrier baskets, planters and flowerbeds throughout the
city, using both traditional bedding plants and also some ‘exotic’
varieties to enhance the appearance.
The parks and gardens contain
floral displays and landscaping, which help to create a peaceful,
vibrant and interesting environment to visit.
Local people and businesses take pride in their environment and work
closely with staff to maintain a clean, green and eye-catching setting
of which we can all be justifiably proud.
I sincerely hope that Coventry gets a reward for all those people who
have made a contribution to make the city bright and attractive to view,
and safe and green to live.” |
